Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Activities Director to join our team. This role is essential in enhancing the quality of life for residents in our long-term care facility, assisted living community, or nursing home. The Activities Director will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging recreational and therapeutic activities that cater to the diverse interests and needs of our residents. Duties
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program that promotes physical, emotional, and social well-being for residents.
- Plan and coordinate events, outings, and recreational activities tailored to the interests of residents.
- Collaborate with staff members to ensure activities are integrated into the overall care plan for each resident.
- Conduct assessments to identify individual resident needs and preferences related to recreational therapy.
- Maintain accurate records of participation in activities and evaluate their effectiveness in enhancing resident engagement.
- Provide guidance and support to staff in facilitating activities and ensuring a safe environment.
- Foster positive relationships with residents, families, and community partners to enhance program offerings.
- Stay informed about best practices in long-term care, assisted living, and recreational therapy.
Qualifications
- Experience in long-term care settings such as assisted living or nursing homes is preferred.
- Background in recreational therapy or a related field is highly desirable.
- Strong skills in schedule management to effectively coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
- Knowledge of aging issues counseling and the ability to address the unique needs of elderly individuals.
- Excellent event planning skills with a creative approach to engaging residents.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, residents, and families while demonstrating compassion and understanding.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in program development and implementation.
- Certification or degree in recreational therapy or related field is a plus.
