The Registration Specialist serves as a key point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while ensuring compliance with all administrative and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients and gather necessary demographic, insurance, and medical information.
- Verify patient identity and insurance coverage, ensuring the accuracy of details entered into the system.
- Obtain signatures on consent forms, financial responsibility forms, and other required documentation.
- Ensure all required information is captured for billing and coding purposes.
- Provide excellent customer service by answering patient questions and addressing concerns.
- Serve as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and other departments
- Accurately input patient information into the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Update and maintain patient files and records in accordance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations.
- Review and resolve any discrepancies in patient information to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, and inform patients of any financial responsibility.
- Obtain pre-authorizations for procedures as needed and ensure necessary documentation is obtained
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth patient flow and scheduling
- Assist in training and mentoring new staff members as necessary.
