The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description The Public Information Manager/Director of Communications supervises our media relations, social media, video, graphics, and writing teams. • In collaboration with the DOL communications executives, develop and execute the annual agency strategic communications plan.• Develop and implement marketing campaigns for the DOL, as well as employment-related campaigns produced by DOL Communications for other NYS agencies and private sector entities.• Oversee the daily projects of the communications team.• Approve and copy edit, where needed, all messaging.• Supervise the social media teams organic and paid campaigns.• Oversee creation of the agency’s digital content management strategy and policy, including metrics for digital media performance. • Liaison with agency executive staff for all digital communication needs, including facilitating new websites and application projects.• Communicate complete information in a clear, concise, accurate manner without relying on technical language.• Coach staff on how to meet the needs for their audiences in their topic areas.• Periodically write job performance evaluations for subordinate staff.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience developing strategic communications plans.Exceptional copy writing ability.Experience leading a team of 10 or more creatives.Background in news media management, press release writing and event planning.Exceptional writing skills.Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders
