General Laborer Job Description
This role involves performing manual labor tasks, operating various tools and equipment, and assisting with projects. As a general laborer, you will have the opportunity to develop your communication skills and work in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Performing manual labor tasks, such as moving freight, stock, or materials.
- Operating various tools and equipment, such as blowtorches, forklifts, levels, lifts, power drills, grinders, saws, pressure washers, and water spraying equipment.
- Assisting carpenters, masons, and other specialized contractors.
- Directing traffic at road construction sites, setting up markers, cones, and barricades, and flagging vehicles.
- Working outdoors in all weather conditions or indoors without heating or air conditioning.
- Safety training and certification for handling hazardous substances like lead, asbestos, and chemicals.
- Completing on-the-job training programs and learning basic job and safety principles.
- Maintaining safe storage areas and adhering to safety standards.
- Cleaning and maintaining machines, equipment, and components.
- Obtaining technical knowledge to use various tools or computerized machines.
