Position: Coil Furnace Operator/Forklift Operator

Shift: 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM (Must be able to train on days or afternoons)

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Location: Warren, MI

About the Role:

As a Coil Furnace Operator, you will play a crucial role in our coil division by ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of materials through our furnaces. You will be responsible for all aspects of the furnace operation, from preparing and loading materials to monitoring the process and ensuring proper documentation. This is a hands-on position that requires attention to detail, the ability to follow procedures, and a commitment to safety.

What You'll Do:

• Accurately tag and identify coils and slugs before they enter the furnace.

• Stack and stage loads in preparation for furnace loading.

• Ensure each coil is tagged according to specific customer requirements.

• Enter detailed coil information into our computer system.

• Initiate and diligently monitor the operation of all furnaces.

• Monitor endothermic gas generators to maintain optimal furnace conditions.

• Safely cut material samples using a gas-powered abrasive saw for metallurgical analysis.

• Operate various forklifts (hi-los) to perform essential job duties.

• Utilize an overhead crane to efficiently stage loads for the furnace.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

• Perform banding and re-banding of coils, along with all related tagging tasks.

• Read micrometers accurately to verify proper material dimensions.

• Contribute to general housekeeping duties throughout the shop.

• Assist with moving coils using a forklift as needed.

What You'll Need:

• Must possess steel-toed boots.

• Ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Basic computer skills for data entry.

• Ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes (training provided).

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Training:

The successful candidate will initially train on our 1st shift to gain a comprehensive understanding of our processes and equipment. Upon successful completion of the initial training period, there may be opportunities to transition to the 2nd shift for training, if desired and based on operational needs.
