Project Engineer / Sales Representative

Location : Greater Washington / Oregon Area

Job Summary :

Laboratory by Design, Inc. (LBD) is seeking a motivated Project Engineer / Sales Representative to support our Project Management team. This role involves bidding, scheduling, planning, and overseeing laboratory casework and fume hood installation projects, ensuring accuracy and quality throughout. Key responsibilities include managing technical and engineering aspects of new bids and ongoing projects, reviewing proposals, estimating costs, and evaluating contractor bids.

Ideal Candidate Profile :

Experience in sales / project management, preferably in construction or laboratory furniture business.
Skills in reading construction plans, meeting deadlines, and strong verbal and written communication.
Traits such as self-motivation, attention to detail, and a results-driven mindset.
Technical Proficiency, including computer literacy and familiarity with construction industry practices.

As a member of the LBD team, you will play a vital part in fulfilling the company's sales goals and objectives. In addition to helping with marketing and sales, you will be exposed to all aspects of the project lifecycle such as submittals, production releases, field measurements, and installation.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Evaluate new projects and bid opportunities in the Washington and Oregon areas.

Responsible for actively pursuing new business opportunities in assigned territory.

Assist in managing project schedules and timelines.

Gather and organize project submittal information.

Create and review subcontract requirements and change orders.

Coordinate communications and correspondences from owners, general contractors, and subcontractors.

Create job closeout documentation in a timely manner.

Assist in resolution of conflicts with clients and customers.

Organize all applicable project information in existing documentation system.

Monitor required timing of material releases and coordinate deliveries.

Jobsite visits as needed. Need to be comfortable with jobsite environment and safety protocols.

Provides administrative support as needed.

Maintain up to date knowledge of in progress quotations and bids.

Contact outside vendors for quotes while keeping deadlines in mind.

Assist with takeoffs, scope letter preparation, request for information (RFIs), and other related estimating tasks.

Other Duties :

Education and Experience :

High school diploma or equivalent.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline is desirable.

Minimum of three (3) years field and project planning experience.

Industry certifications a plus.

Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications.

Skills and Traits :

Proficient in MS Office Suite.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work with multiple discipline projects and on taught deadlines.

Excellent project management and organizational, time management skills.

Open to feedback and flexible to change.

Able to work autonomously as needed.

Seeks guidance and approval for unusual or complex problems from supervisor. Not afraid to ask questions.

Excited to see projects transform from concept to reality.

Takes pride in providing quality work and maintaining good relationships.

Knowledge of applicable codes, policies, standards, and best practices.

Job Type : Full time, 8-hour shift Monday through Friday (remote) in the Oregon and Washington areas. Assignments and locations may change at any time with or without notice.
