This part-time day position utilizes clinical lab and phlebotomy experience to make a positive impact in the local community.
The incumbent assists technical lab staff with tasks including specimen collection, processing, and testing under direct supervision while meeting performance standards and knowledge level determined for approved testing. Key responsibilities include ensuring accurate patient identification and specimen integrity, tracking missing specimens, and performing maintenance activities on laboratory equipment as directed.
The successful candidate will focus on quality by ensuring all work performed is accurate, complete, and within defined timeframes. They will meet department standards for productivity and quality, perform quality control for testing, communicate technical concerns to technical staff, and participate in detecting and documenting occurrences that deviate from defined procedures.
In addition to their core functions, the incumbent will participate in departmental financial responsibilities through appropriate use of supplies and materials, assist with inventory management, and contribute to updates of training documents and procedures.
Effective communication with internal and external customers is essential for this role, which also requires excellent reading, writing, and math abilities, basic computer skills, and exceptional organizational skills.
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, be 18 years or older if performing phlebotomy, and meet other minimum qualifications outlined below. Previous clinical laboratory experience and additional related education and/or experience are preferred but not required.
