We are currently seeking a dynamic and driven Marine Engine Salesperson to join our team. This position focuses on the sales of Scania marine engines, specifically the 13-liter inline 6-cylinder and 16-liter V-8 models. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marine sales, a passion for engines, and the ability to engage with customers in our primary markets, which include small tugs, crew boats, ferries, pilot boats, and recreation fishing vessels. Candidates may reside anywhere within the Gulf Coast Region (between Mobile, AL and Houston, TX.
In this role, you will:
- Identify and develop sales strategies to promote Scania marine engines within the target markets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, providing expert advice and support throughout the sales process.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Scania marine engine products, specifications, and applications in various marine environments.
- Research and analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify new opportunities for growth and product positioning.
- Conduct products presentations and demonstrations to showcase the advantages of Scania marine engines to potential customers.
- Work closely with the technical and engineering teams to ensure customer specifications and requirements are met during the sales and installation processes.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and market feedback to inform strategic decisions.
- May perform other duties as required by business needs.
Qualifications we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Maritime, or a related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in sales, with a focus on marine engines or related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of marine engine technologies and their applications.
- Demonstrated ability to convert prospects and close deals while maintaining established sales quotas.
- High energy with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to engage with customers and team effectively.
- Results-driven with a strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
Work Schedule and Benefits:
- This position requires frequent travel to cover the assigned territory and often includes several hours of driving per day.
- This position is expected to work Monday through Friday and may require occasional work on nights and/or weekends to fulfill the job duties.
- Regularly works around mechanical equipment and may be exposed to high noise levels at times
- Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crawl and climb ladders
- Required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
