Job Summary :
The Medical Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing microbiology test on patient specimens, identifying microorganisms, and infectious diseases.
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Perform testing on specimens, including bacterial cultures and gram stains.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment such as automated analyzers, and microscopes.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Prepare and maintain cultures for bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms.
- Maintains all instrumentation used and documenting any daily maintenance required.
- Adheres to the laboratory's Quality Control policies and documents all QC activities including instrument calibrations.
- Identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or test result reporting and correcting the problem or notifying the supervisor.
- Follow established laboratory protocols and safety procedures to ensure accurate test results and prevent contamination.
- Document all corrective action taken when test systems deviate from laboratory's established performance specifications.
- Adhere to all infectious control polices, keep a clean organized workstation and specimen storage areas.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues with lab equipment.
