JOB DESCRIPTION Laboratory Analyst (4709)
Location: LaPorte, TX
Position Summary:Our client in the LaPorte, TX is looking for a Laboratory Analyst to assist in their laboratory.
Essential Functions:
- Promote and support a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible work environment. Follow all safety rules and policies.
- Support the plants Process Safety and Risk Management goals and objectives.
- Perform routine analyses, including control samples and calibration checks, without supervision.
- Strive to continuously improve the quality process.
- Perform unscheduled analyses with minimal guidance from laboratory management. Assist in training as required.
- Participate in site-wide process safety and risk reduction activities as requested.
- Proficiently operate instrumentation such as, analytical balances, spectrometers, TOC analyzers, Karl Fischer titrators, gas chromatographs, and flame AA.
- Must have wet chemistry experience and demonstrate a solid knowledge of various wet chemistry techniques and skill sets.
- Accurately record results, by computer or in writing, for use by Lab and plant personnel.
- Properly maintain all work sheets and applicable control charts.
- Coordinate activities closely with production, loading and utility personnel.
- Analyze samples in a timely manner.
- Practice good housekeeping.
Qualifications:
- BS/AAS Degree in Physical Science (Chemistry, Biology etc)
- 2 5 years of laboratory experience preferred
Skills and Abilities:
- High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read, write and speak in English.
- Must be able to respond to off hour emergencies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, nights, overtime, and respond to callouts on a non-routine basis.
- Physical requirements - Must be able to lift 40 lbs., climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
- Complete and pass HASC Safety Courses
Type of Assignment:
Long Term Contract
Shift Schedule:
Day Schedule to start, will rotate to rotating shift after training.
4 on/off schedule, 12 hours shifts
Will rotate between days/nights
Salary:
Dependent upon experience
