Job Overview
Summer Farmhands is a nature-focused program where kids ages 3-10 explore farming, wilderness, and sustainability through outdoor adventures and creative activities in a fun and nurturing setting. We are looking for candidates with experience with children and a love of the outdoors to join our team!
As a Lead Educator, you will be responsible for either 5-6 or 7-10 year olds, planning and running daily activities related to our weekly themes, while providing a safe and fun environment for children.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise daily camp activities, ensuring a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all participants
- Plan and facilitate educational programs that promote a love of nature, including gardening, wilderness skills, farming, crafts, environmental stewardship, and outdoor activities
- Ensure the safety of all campers by adhering to first aid protocols and maintaining a clean and organized camp setting.
- Implement behavior management strategies to maintain a respectful and supportive environment
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and staff regarding any concerns that may arise
- Collaborate with fellow staff members to create a cohesive team environment focused on the well-being of all campers
- Supervise assistant group leaders, counselors, and CITs
- Manage the set-up and clean-up of all activities daily
Requirements
- Experience working with children in a camp or educational setting
- A genuine passion for educating and nurturing young minds through engaging activities.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices is highly desirable
- Strong skills in behavior management to effectively guide camper interactions.
- Background in nature related topics is an advantage but not required
- Must be able to spend hours outdoors, lift 25-50 lbs in supplies and/or small children, and comfortably traverse the Lachat property
- CPR/First Aid certification and background check will be required as part of the hiring process
Hours & Compensation
- Camp runs June 16-Aug 15
- 9 week availability preferred, with possibility to divide role into 4 consecutive weeks
- Hours onsite during camp weeks Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm
- $1000-$1300 weekly salary, based on experience

Pay: From $1,000.00 per week
