Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and detail-oriented 911 Dispatcher Supervisor to lead a team of emergency dispatchers in our fast-paced Emergency Communications Center. This supervisory role plays a critical part in ensuring the public’s safety by overseeing daily operations, providing leadership, and maintaining a high standard of service for emergency and non-emergency call handling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, schedule, and evaluate the performance of 911 dispatch personnel.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and support to ensure dispatchers meet performance expectations.
- Monitor calls and radio traffic to ensure accuracy, professionalism, and compliance with procedures.
- Assist in handling complex or high-priority emergency situations.
- Coordinate training and onboarding of new employees.
- Conduct shift briefings and maintain communication between shifts.
- Ensure proper staffing levels and manage scheduling adjustments.
- Prepare reports and documentation on center operations, incidents, and personnel.
- Collaborate with law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other public safety agencies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of communication systems, software, and protocols.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required, associate or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Communications, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience as a 911 dispatcher or emergency communications officer.
- Prior supervisory or lead experience in a dispatch center is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of CAD systems, radio communications, and emergency response protocols.
- Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Must be able to pass a background check and any required certifications
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position. Shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required depending on departmental needs.
