Efficiently and effectively manage the packaging of Fresh Mozzarella to ensure top quality is achieved. To implement policies and procedures so that high quality is maintained. Recommend improvements in operating procedures and working conditions. Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of workers to meet production standards. Works with Hooper and Schneider packaging equipment. The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following skills/attributes: attention to detail and accuracy in work; ability to work well with others; high personal qualities; strong written and verbal communication skills; and ability to make quick and intelligent decisions effectively. Patience is important in handling employee questions and concerns. The employee must be able to be detailed oriented in watching and inspecting the product.

Key responsibilities for this position include:
· Analyzes and evaluates information concerning daily operations and how these results positively or negatively affect department performance.
· Displays great people skills and encourages team performance and positive attitude.
· Cooperates with other management personnel in formulating and establishing company policies, operating procedures, and goals.
· Displays knowledge in the production and packaging processes and procedures.
· Works closely with maintenance on a variety of issues related to equipment, department maintenance, and preventative maintenance programs.
· Identifies strengths and/or weakness of the employees and demonstrates the ability to train and coach to strengthen weakness and utilize strengths.
· Recruits, hires, and develops staff with the necessary skills to support the packaging and production responsibilities for the plant; daily “coaching” of all levels in the department and coordination of packaging needs.
· Approves employee’s vacation and sick leaves.
· Performs administrative managerial duties in an accurate, timely, and professional manner (phone calls, voicemail, paperwork, meetings, ordering supplies, employee evaluations)
· Meets regularly with shift supervisors and sanitation supervisors to stay informed about all issues arising in the department.
· Keeps packaging running smoothly by printing labels, moving pallets to the cooler, brining cheese, filling in for and aiding packaging workers as necessary.
· Ensures efficient and accurate packaging department reports by maintaining and confirming all information
provided from the department supervisors and colleting it into the required reports for the department.
· Participates in operating budget, goals, and objectives of the department and works toward meeting and/or exceeding these expectations.
· Monitors floor activities in the department by checking machine speeds, adjusting equipment as necessary, and troubleshooting for the packaging workers on the lines.
· Organizes the packaging department on an overall basis regarding equipment, staffing, and raw materials to meet the demand for the plant.
· Ensures that packaging specifications are in line with Company standards and takes corrective action immediately when necessary.
· Reviews technical problems and procedures of departments and recommends solutions to problems or changes in procedures.
· Conducts miscellaneous research, simulations, and comparisons as needed. Develops and implements any new reporting tools as needed.
· Propose technical and organizational improvements to line management.
· Be involved in trials (machines, products, processes etc.)
· Assigns and schedules employees, including temporary staff, so that adequate coverage is met and maintained.
· Organize team’s output (efficiencies, headcount etc.)
· Plan and schedule manpower consistent with production requirements.
· Apply any environmental and safety regulations and ensure they are respected.
· Take necessary measures if people are performing unsafe acts or are in an unsafe environment.
· Take necessary measures when there is deviation from policies and standards.
· Work closely with Quality and Food Safety Team to ensure the quality and specifications of product are continually being met.
· Act to continuously improve process targets.
· Ensure the communication of the department targets and the monthly results to staff.
· Participate in customers audits.
· Responsible to verify Food safety records of the department.
· Follow the Food Safety Management System
· Key contributor of the ISO 22000 implementation. Ensure the sustainability of the food safety programs in his department.
· Comply with all Lactalis American Group Policies and Procedures
· Uphold all rules pertaining to confidentiality of information regarding Lactalis products, recipes and employee information.

Education
· Bachelor’s Degree from four-year college or technical school
Experience
· 3 – 4 years related experience in field
· Food production and packaging, or related experience
Specialized Knowledge
· Computer software, including Word, Excel, and Lotus; Basic algebra skills
