WHO WE ARE
Lad Lake Synergy School is a behavioral reassignment school that collaborates with Milwaukee Public Schools. Students are assigned to our school throughout the academic year for various behavioral offenses. At the end of each semester, some students exit our program while new students are assigned. Our Synergy school operates on a seven-period schedule.
JOB SUMMARY
The primary goal is to provide educational services through creative and caring methods that promote students' intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development. The school aims to create an academic environment that adheres to trauma-sensitive, family-focused, community-based, and best-practice principles.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Commit to the success of Lad Lake'sLake'son, as well as its goals and objectives.- Foster an educational environment that is conducive to learning.
- Plan instructional programs tailored to meet the needs of individual students and whole groups, including vulnerable and special-needs youth.
- Follow the Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) curriculum, paying special attention to cultural sensitivity.
- Prepare comprehensive lesson plans.
- Participate in the development and monitoring of student education plans.
- Utilize appropriate instructional methods and materials that support the well-being of students and the nature of learning activities.
- Maintain open and positive communication with students, parents or guardians, and other staff to guide, evaluate, and encourage student achievement.
- Keep up-to-date grades and academic evaluations for students.
- Participate in staff meetings and all required in-service training.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's- Valid Wisconsin teaching certificate
- Previous experience working with emotionally and behaviorally disabled (EBD) students or at-risk adolescent populations, preferably 2 to 3 years of successful classroom behavior management experience
- Ability to interact with students positively and confidently while treating a culturally, racially, and economically diverse student population equitably
- Flexibility, adaptability to change, and self-confidence are essential
- Strong organizational skills, effective behavior management techniques, and sound judgment are required
