What a Day in the Life of a Lead Treatment Specialist Looks Like:
- Assist the unit manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the living unit, ensuring the physical unit is well kept, shift documentation is completed, procedures are followed, and the safety and well-being of residents are ensured.
- Support and train Treatment Technicians to implement Trauma-Informed Care principles and behavior management strategies.
- Coordinate weekly activity schedules for residents and ensure staff consistently follows these activities.
- Oversee medication administration and ensure compliance with all procedures.
- Review and send required records to case managers, ensuring that incident reports and progress notes are accurately completed and submitted.
- Regular communication between staff is conducted to ensure smooth operations and adherence to standards across shifts.
- Assist with the intake process to ensure a positive transition of care for new residents.
- Help create and implement resident discharge plans, coordinate family passes, and attend evaluation conferences.
- Support and foster a cohesive, positive team environment while maintaining a commitment to the organization’s mission and values.
What You Bring to the Table:
- A bachelor’s degree in social work, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field, OR at least two years of experience in institutional childcare or youth services.
- Experience working with children and youth with emotional or behavioral challenges.
- Certification as a Child & Youth Care Worker (or ability to become certified within 3 months of position start).
- A valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with staff, youth, and families.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and demonstrate strong leadership skills to foster a positive and productive team environment.
- A commitment to the principles of Trauma-Informed Care and youth development.
- Intermediate or Advanced technological prowess
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and handle potential physical interventions when necessary for safety.
