What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-time Psychology Teaching Position position at Lafayette College?
The Psychology Department at Lafayette is looking for someone to teach multiple sections of our Introductory Psychology lab next academic year (starting August, 2025).
The Intro lab is a subsection that emphasizes basic research methods to complement the lecture section of Intro. Each lab has ~20 students and meets once per week for 3-hours. This position would require teaching 4 lab sections per semester. We have a strong, collaborative team of fellow instructors so there is a curriculum in place, but there is also opportunity to shape that curriculum. There is also flexibility in scheduling so that all sections can be offered on two days/week or they could be all evening sections, etc. to accommodate other work or family obligations.
Responsibilities
- Teaching four Psyc 110 Lab sections each semester onsite in Easton, PA
- Supervising undergraduate laboratory assistants for those four Psyc 110 Lab sections
- Coordinating with instructors of the other Psyc 110 Lab sections and the Psyc 110 lecture sections
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Psychology or a related field
- Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level is strongly preferred
- Strong organization, communication, and collaboration skills
- A commitment to teach the scientific method as applied to psychological science
- Dedication to undergraduate education and to working with undergraduate students
