General Management Consultant - Homeland Security and Law Enforcement

Lafayette Group is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to provide strategic support to the executive offices of our federal client in a fast-paced and mission critical environment. This position will engage directly with agency leadership to support external engagement portfolios with law enforcement and homeland security stakeholders and develop high-quality briefings, strategies, presentations, and outreach materials. This position will require acute attention to detail and close collaboration with clients to gather and manage requirements, determine operational needs, and develop recommendations for stakeholder engagement and agency operations to support the day-to-day activities necessary for a homeland security mission.

Job Responsibilities :
Produce Relevant and High-Quality Resources: Apply knowledge of law enforcement and homeland security to develop plans, reports, program overviews, talking points, engagement strategies, and other internal and public-facing documents that effectively convey information to law enforcement.

Law Enforcement Stakeholder Engagement: Support the client in direct engagement with stakeholders by developing professional and collaborative relationships with law enforcement associations and their leaders and members. This includes handling information requests, exhibit booths, and regular status calls.

Administrative Support: Contribute to the smooth running of the office by building agendas, standard operating procedures, schedules, and correspondence, and navigating Executive Secretary approval processes.

Executive-Level Support: Work in a fast-paced executive-level office with quick turnaround requests and manage work across regular tasks and long-term projects.

Grants Review: Provide surge support to assess Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention grant submissions for compliance based on a standardized approach in a quick turnaround environment using basic knowledge of law enforcement and homeland security practices.

Required Qualifications :
Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of relevant experience (e.g., management consulting, Federal Government, law enforcement, homeland security).

Demonstrated research, data gathering, analytical, critical thinking, and listening skills

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to integrate well with a team and willingness to work across the team

Ability to be a self-starter and creative thinker, including taking basic ideas and developing details, potential approaches, and opportunities

Ability to think conceptually and strategically and learn quickly

Ability to be extremely organized and manage multiple work trackers, as well as keep track of client and stakeholder communications

Ability to meet deadlines, adhere to project plans, ensure any conflicts are brought to the attention of the management team, and multi-task and work on several projects simultaneously across multiple project areas

Ability to be flexible and adaptable; Be comfortable handling last-minute tasks, and changing priorities or changes in direction

Ability to interact and network effectively with all levels of staff, including senior leadership with the client and external stakeholders

Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Excel

Ability to obtain a Federal government public trust determination

Desired Qualifications :
Work experience in homeland security and law enforcement

Existing DHS Suitability

Location: This position will include work at both the client and company sites in Arlington, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Federal Contracts: This position involves working on federal contracts that require all workers to receive Federal government suitability determination. Additionally, some contracts may require the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Salary Range: $68,000 - $82,000

LGI carefully considers various factors when determining salary, including but not limited to education and training, professional experience, knowledge, skills and competencies, licensure and certifications, contract-specific affordability, and organizational requirements. New employees are not usually hired at the top of the estimated salary range and salary decisions depend on the circumstances and factors for each case. Salary is only one aspect of LGI’s generous total compensation package.
