Senior Management Consultant - Federal Acquisition

Lafayette Group is seeking a qualified and highly motivated individual to provide expertise and leadership in planning and managing strategic acquisition initiatives, developing acquisition processes and templates, building and maintaining communications materials (e.g., executive leadership briefings), and managing project execution in support of an acquisition and budget office within the Cybersecurity Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). The ideal candidate will :

  • Use your experience in either government consulting or federal contracting acquisition management to support a large and diverse acquisition portfolio, serving as a subject matter expert advising on the required processes and actions, and identifying innovative process efficiencies to improve the client’s performance.
  • Serve as the main interface between the client and a diverse contract support team—working in a fast-paced environment managing multiple simultaneous deadlines, forecasting staff and client needs.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Serve as a primary point of contact and advisor to senior government acquisition office leadership for the planning and execution of strategic initiatives and management of various acquisition support functions (e.g., acquisition planning, execution, monitoring, communications).
  • Provide mentorship, administrative oversight, and professional development support to junior and mid-level staff within assigned area of responsibility and support in these areas across broader LGI contract / team.
  • Lead team in creation and maintenance of written work products including leadership briefing decks, Federal acquisition templates and SOPs, meeting summaries, strategic plans, talking points, and fact sheets about the client organization.
  • Spearhead the development and presentation of persuasive and unique innovative solutions to complex challenges in a fast-paced environment.
  • Develop and coordinate approval of presentations by government leadership to communicate complex topics to various internal and external audiences.
  • Oversee and / or perform research and data gathering to identify key themes, trends, and opportunities from complex information for the implementation of new processes and tools to support strategic business operations.
  • Manage the development and facilitation of requirements documentation for key stakeholders and follow-up with stakeholders on status updates.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Review and provide input and guidance on team deliverables.
  • Provide meeting planning, facilitation, and logistical support to include capturing, communicating, and tracking meeting outcomes and follow-up actions.
  • Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years of relevant experience (e.g., management consulting, Federal Government acquisition, contract administration).
  • Demonstrated understanding of federal contracting (e.g., contracting strategy, contracting lifecycle, and contracting artifacts).
  • Demonstrated research, data gathering, analytical, critical thinking, and listening skills.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team and managing staff.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to think conceptually and strategically and learn quickly.
  • Ability to be extremely organized and manage multiple work trackers, as well as keep track of client and stakeholder communications.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, adhere to project plans, ensure any conflicts are brought to the attention of the management team, and multi-task and work on several projects simultaneously across multiple project areas.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable; be comfortable handling last-minute asks, changing priorities, or changes in direction.
  • Ability to interact and network effectively with all levels of staff, including senior leadership, both internal and on the client site, as well as manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Excel.
  • Ability to obtain a Federal government public trust.
  • Desired Qualifications :

  • Work experience in homeland security, IT, or cybersecurity.
  • Existing DHS / CISA Suitability.
  • Experience supporting a Level 1 acquisition program.
  • Location : Washington DC Metro Area

    Federal Contracts : This position involves working on federal contracts that require all workers on the contract to be U.S. Citizens. Additionally, some contracts may require the ability to obtain a security clearance.

    Salary Range : $115,000 - $145,000
