We are seeking a Banquet Captain to join our outstanding team.
This position assists in the effective management and direction of the Banquet operation by providing quality service to the guest, excellent leadership to the associates and monitoring cost and inventory to ensure a profitable operation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in interviewing, training and coaching the Banquet staff.
- Maintains the inventory of operating equipment, props, linen, etc.
- Completes a daily walk through of all Banquet and Meeting rooms.
- Maintains the weekly cleaning schedule and assigns duties to the Banquet staff accordingly.
- Orders supplies, liquor and linens on a weekly basis depending upon the needs of business.
- Regularly review the payroll budget to ensure labor costs are aligned with the forecast with the F&B Director / Manager
- Assists in conducting performance evaluations, coaching and counseling.
- Assigns in advance all daily worksheets and diagrams to the Housemen and Banquet Captains.
- Regularly conducting Banquet staff meetings to keep the staff informed, providing training and to create a positive work environment.
- Reviews and attend all Banquet Event Orders, Group Resumes, event schedules and daily reports to ensure proper space blocking in an effort to prevent double bookings.
- Assist with writing the weekly Banquet Department schedule and staffs accordingly to meet Banquet business demands with the F&B Director / Manager.
- Regularly monitors the Banquet functions and follows-up with the client during the event in a courteous and professional manner to ensure all service expectations have been met and provides additional assistance as needed.
- Supervises the set up of the Banquet and meeting rooms to include the placement of china, tables, chairs, linens, glassware, silverware, flags, podiums, audio visual, easels, props, staging and service equipment.
- Ensures the overall cleanliness of the Banquet and Meeting Rooms, to include the walls, carpets, light fixtures and mirrors.
- Works with other departments to handle any changes, updates and cancellations.
- Completes necessary paperwork as assigned which includes preparing the bill, obtaining the client's signature, authorizing the credit card and the distribution of the bills.
- Assists employees and occasionally may perform in the capacity of any of the positions supervised.
- Documents and submits a work order to report items that need to be repaired and follows up with Maintenance accordingly.
- All other duties as assigned by the F&B Director / Manager.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in the overall direction and coordination of the Banquet Department carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Certified in the Responsible Service of Alcohol and a valid CA Food Handler Certification is required. CPR / First Aid Certification is preferred.

PAY SCALE :
The pay scale for this position is $21.00-$24.00 per hour plus gratuities. This is the pay range for this position that the Hotel reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual wage rates will be based on a number of factors, such as experience, type of hotel experience, and education.
