INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT TEACHER
DEFINITION: Under the direction of the Director of Special Services, provides instruction to special education students individually and/or general classroom setting.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
·Provides direct instructional support to students with special needs, individually and/or general classroom setting.
·Provides consultation to staff and parents of special needs students.
·Conducts assessments, develops IEPs and participates in IEP meetings.
·Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
·District standards and benchmarks.
·District core curriculum.
·Special education regulations.
·A variety of instructional strategies appropriate for different disability types.
·Successful collaboration and co-teaching strategies.
Ability to:
·Provide special education assessments.
·Write legally compliant and educationally meaningful assessment reports.
·Work in a collaborative relationship with parents, and general and special education staff members.
·Develop and implement a functional behavior plan.
·Provide staff development.
Education:
Appropriate California teaching credential.
