Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician/Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, maintenance contracts, repairs, required inspections, and the purchase of supplies related to the maintenance of the facilities and grounds of Lafayette Urban Ministry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Maintenance Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Executive Director or other assigned supervisor, responsible for:
cleaning of outdoor spaces and basement
maintenance,
maintenance contracts and
repair of all Lafayette Urban Ministry property including buildings, grounds, mechanical systems, plumbing, furniture, non-office equipment and appliances.
order/purchase of all supplies related to the cleaning and maintenance of the facilities and grounds
Specific responsibilities include:
In cooperation with the assigned supervisor, establish and maintain contracts for the following:
Heating and air conditioning system maintenance
Snow removal from parking lots
Elevator inspection
Sprinkler System inspection and maintenance
Roll down door and exhaust fan maintenance (Shelter kitchen)
Department of Transportation inspections of vehicles
Backflow
Dumpster
Have fire alarms, smoke detectors and fire extinguishers serviced as needed
Have grease traps cleaned as needed
Snow and ice removal from steps and sidewalks as needed
Change indoor and outdoor light bulbs as needed
Lawn and garden care including mowing, sweeping, edging, trimming, planting, etc. on the LUM Main Office and Ray Ewry Center
Keep parking lots clear of trash, leaves, other debris
Assist volunteer groups with miscellaneous cleaning, maintenance and painting projects
Clean refrigerator/freezer coils (office semi-annually/shelter quarterly)
Check and clean dryer vents (shelter quarterly)
Maintain activity buses and fill fluids (not gasoline) as needed
Check salt level in water conditioner at Ewry Building, purchase and fill as required
Minor repairs to facility and furniture as needed
Ensure solar panels remain operational
Many other tasks and duties that arise in a year
Isaiah 32 Project (Three single-family rental units) Responsibilities
Semi-annual inspection of properties
Property upgrade, repair and maintenance as requested by tenants and/or approved by immediate supervisor
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $18.50 per hour
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
