Direct Support Staff

Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in providing assistance and support to individuals with developmental disabilities or other disabilities in various settings. This position involves fostering independence and enhancing the quality of life for individuals through compassionate care and support. The DSP will engage with clients in daily activities, ensuring their safety, dignity, and well-being while promoting their rights.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
• Provide support in social and recreational activities to encourage community involvement.
• Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client’s needs and preferences.
• Supporting individuals in community-based activities (e.g., volunteering, social events, skill-building programs).
• Facilitating participation in civic, social, and cultural activities.
• Assisting with transportation to and from community events
• Document client progress and any significant changes in behavior or health status.

Experience

• Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
• Familiarity with first aid practices is beneficial for ensuring client safety.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and build relationshipswith clients and their families..
• A commitment to providing compassionate care while respecting the rights of all individuals served.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $18.00 per hour
