Radiology Student
Shift: PRN
Job Summary
Responsible for obtaining radiographic images of diagnostic quality while adhering to departmental standards and protocols under the supervision of a registered Radiologic Technologist.
Essential Functions
- Communicates effectively. Establishes and maintains two way communication with peers, staff, physicians, leaders, and administration.
- Cooperates well with peers and supports group decisions.
- Maintains a clear, neat and safe environment for patients and staff.
- Seeks information/guidance from others as needed.
- Correctly identifies and uses appropriately personal protective equipment.
- Demonstrates population appropriate competencies for all relevant patient populations.
- Uses equipment safely, adhering to policy, guidelines and/or protocols set by the facility and department.
- Ensures that all procedures are properly ordered, verified and acknowledged.
- Properly identifies patient before procedures.
- Performs radiologic examination using correct exposure and technical factors under supervision of a registered Radiologic Technologist
- Positions patients for the proper view of affected area.
- Instructs patients on the requirements for the procedure(s) order.
- Routinely utilizes appropriate labeling.
- Marks films with left markers to identify side of patients.
- Completes mandatory "exam entry fields" in computer system.
- Charges for supplies through the non-procedural table and paper process if necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- Technical School Enrolled in a radiologic program required
- 0-1 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact effectively with patients, families, healthcare professionals and external vendors.
- Ability to operate and understand radiographic technology and equipment/applications under supervision of a radiologic technlogist.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to demonstrate ethical and professional behaviors at all times.
- Knowledge of radiation safety and protection procedures.
Licenses and Certifications
- BCLS - Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire required
