What are the responsibilities and job description for the Faculty Appointment, Department of Nursing position at LaGrange College?
LaGrange College seeks to fill tenure-eligible appointment at the assistant or associate professor level in Nursing beginning August 1, 2025, or upon negotiation thereafter. Field of specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates with expertise in pediatric or medical surgical nursing.
An MSN and unencumbered licensure are required for the position; a Doctor of Nursing Practice or Ph.D. in nursing education is required for a tenure-track appointment. Outstanding candidates still earning their doctoral degree will be considered, but the successful candidate must have their terminal degree completed prior to the end of their second year in the position.
The teaching load is 24 credits annually, as appropriate to the successful candidate’s field(s) of specialization in nursing, and includes courses that satisfy the college’s general education curriculum, known as Ethos. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, professional development, and institutional service, as well as an understanding of, and appreciation for, the mission of liberal arts institutions.
The nursing program maintains a close relationship with West Georgia Medical Center (Wellstar) and the Children’s Hospital of Atlanta (CHOA). Through both a solid grounding in theory and engagement in the field (via clinical experiences, collaborative undergraduate research, and other opportunities) nursing students receive a thorough, intensive, and experiential education in the discipline. The nursing program recently received an unqualified re-accreditation from ACEN through 2032, and its first-time NCLEX passage rate in 2024 was 95.5%.
