What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Men's Lacrosse Coach position at LaGrange College?
Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Athletic Director the Head Men's Lacrosse Coach will provide leadership and guidance with all aspects of the intercollegiate men’s lacrosse program. The Head Men's Lacrosse Coach will work to provide optimal playing conditions for LaGrange College men’s lacrosse student-athletes. The Head Men's Lacrosse Coach will provide information and evaluations regarding recruits, roster development, budget reports, game personnel and staff.
Job Duties (but not limited to):
- The Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach develops and maintains a system to identify potential recruits and to work closely with area high school coaches, two-year college coaches and parents to recruit quality student-athletes to LaGrange College.
- Works to encourage the development of psychological, social, and mental skills necessary for the student-athletes to be successful in the classroom, on the court, and in future endeavors;
- Works with Admissions to expedite the registration, admission, and other administrative processing of all student-athletes.
- Develops practice plans, position assignments, game strategies, individual workouts, and strength and conditioning needs for various student-athletes.
- Serves as a role model for student-athletes by exhibiting ethical and professional conduct.
- Represents and promotes LaGrange College at various civic, community, speaking, fundraising, and marketing events.
- Maintains confidentiality of information exposed to during business regarding students, supervisors, or other employees.
- Oversees the budget.
- Oversees men’s lacrosse work study students by providing them with responsibilities and maintaining hours.
- Serves as the game day manager for specified home games, assigning regular home game responsibilities to workers from the men’s lacrosse team members.
- Assists in all aspects of men’s lacrosse camps held at LaGrange College.
- Responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operation of a successful collegiate program.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required and a master's degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of successful collegiate coaching experience at collegiate level is preferred.
- Experience competing at the collegiate level is preferred.
- Ability to evaluate physical performance related to a collegiate men’s lacrosse program.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to evaluate physical performance related to an inter-collegiate men’s lacrosse program
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
- Must effectively communicate both within and outside the College including student-athletes, parents, recruits, coaches, civic and business leaders.
- Ability to work as a support individual within a group setting.
- Ability to provide effective leadership to student-athletes to encourage both successful academic development and competitive performance.
