Responsibilities
Reporting to the Dean for Institutional Effectiveness, the Institutional Research Manager will support the College’s planning, evaluation, analytical research, data visualization and presentation, and institutional effectiveness. The Institutional Research Manager collects, develops, analyzes, creates relevant data dashboards and communicates institutional outcome data, including retention, graduation, transfers, course level outcomes, enrollment information. Consults on a wide range of institutional data and assessment activities and coordinates reporting with the Dean for Institutional Effectiveness. Supports and enhances informed decision-making, problem solving, strategic planning and institutional self-assessment. In addition, the Institutional Research Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Bachelor's Degree and six years' relevant experience required.

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Dean for Institutional Effectiveness, the Institutional Research Manager will support the College’s planning, evaluation, analytical research, data visualization and presentation, and institutional effectiveness. The Institutional Research Manager collects, develops, analyzes, creates relevant data dashboards and communicates institutional outcome data, including retention, graduation, transfers, course level outcomes, enrollment information. Consults on a wide range of institutional data and assessment activities and coordinates reporting with the Dean for Institutional Effectiveness. Supports and enhances informed decision-making, problem solving, strategic planning and institutional self-assessment. In addition, the Institutional Research Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Performs applied research and designs, executes and evaluates wide-ranging analytical and statistical studies focusing on a wide range of educational outcomes
- Supports of enrollment management reporting and analysis
- Develops and produces assessment tools, mainly a large range of student outcomes dashboards to guide administrators, faculty and staff members with evaluation, planning and assessment at the institution, departments, programs and course levels
- Supports the evaluation of Federal, State, CUNY Central Office, and Foundation-funded grants focusing on enhancing student success, by providing relevant data, assessing the results, and producing the necessary analysis.
- Develops and produces relevant, timely and accurate institutional information for college faculty, administrators and the College community at large
- Supports and integrates university and college planning efforts within institutional research, policy analysis and outcome assessment
- Conducts and/or advises on data mining, statistical analysis and interpretation of results
- Assist in developing and maintaining accessible, relational databases for the use of the Office
- Represent the department on committees and task forces, as assigned, represents the department on state and national conferences
Bachelor's Degree and six years' relevant experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or advanced degree in a research related field and full-time experience in research related position, is preferred;
- Proven understanding of higher education issues and higher education research, particularly in the area of enrollment management, and institutional outcomes;
- Knowledge of strategic planning, academic assessment concepts and experience with supporting program evaluation;
- Advanced knowledge of SQL, including complex high-level programming;
- Advanced knowledge of the Office packages, especially Access and Excel;
- Advanced knowledge of statistical packages, preferably SPSS;
- Advanced knowledge of Tableau, Including a Tableau certificate;
- Data management - manipulation, construction and maintenance of large data sets;
- The ability to understand complex research questions and the knowledge to create the queries and programs necessary to get the data and explain the results;
- The ability to guide faculty and staff with the understanding and application of institutional dashboards to maximize their usage and effectiveness;
- Advanced statistics including multiple linear regression, logistic regression, factor analysis, and predictive analytics;
- Strong writing skills experience especially with data presentation and analysis;
- In-depth expertise in the databases of student level enrollment, demographics, academic performance, and retention and graduation outcomes;
- Advanced knowledge of the CUNYfirst databases;
- Advanced knowledge of the CUNY student level data, course level CUNY, enrollment, retention, graduation, transfer, and grade distribution data and databases;
- Ability to create and update dashboards that support strategic planning, accreditation, academic program reviews, grants proposals and evaluations;
- Grant evaluation reports and documentations including the ability to extract the relevant data to present evaluation information;
- The ability to collaborate with college administrators, grant Principal Investigators, and institutional stakeholders in the design, implementation, evaluation, and reporting on student success initiatives.
- Manages College institutional research programs and studies related to the College's mission.
- Develops relevant, timely and accurate institutional information to administrators, the college community, the external community, and external agencies.
- Defines and implements research studies, designing and conducting data analyses and analyzing and interpreting results.
- Researches, develops and recommends policy analyses relevant to anticipated institutional planning, policy, and decision-making needs.
- Participates in college-wide strategic planning, institutional effectiveness and outcomes assessment tasks.
- Respond to data, table and report requests from college constituencies.
- Manage surveys, questionnaires and other data-gathering instruments administered by the Office.
- Manages a library of institutional planning and research documents.
- May consult with faculty and students in the design of databases for research projects
- Performs related duties as assigned.
