Career and Professional Programs at LaGuardia Community College is seeking a part-time instructor to teach in the Medical Interpreter (Spanish) Certificate Program. The certificate program is designed to teach adults to become a qualified medical interpreter.
Topics include basic interpreter skills, such as building a personal glossary, and practice medical interpretation through role play. Student's are also prepared to take the LanguageLine Solutions Interpreter Skills Test.
Course takes place IN PERSON
Course Dates: Saturdays: April 26, 2025 - June 21, 2025
Day: Saturdays
Time: 9:30am - 4pm
Requirements:
- Must be a Certified Medical Interpreter
- Must have at least 5 years of practical experience
-Must be bilingual Spanish/English
- Must be familiar with the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) Certified Healthcare Interpreter exam and the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI) Certified Medical Interpreter exam.
- Must be knowledgeable in the rules and regulations of a medical interpreter
- Must have college degree in related area
