General Description
The Excel class prepares students in fundamental concepts and skills that will equip them for success in
the subsequent healthcare data analysis class. The Excel Instructor will be responsible for delivering
excel training specifically tailored for the medical billing/healthcare revenue field. The instructor will work under the supervision of the Program Manager.
Topics including but not limited to:
Entering content, saving workbooks, and adjusting column width and row height.
Using the Pointer Method and SUM Function for various tasks like formatting, copying, and pasting.
Creating, editing, and interpreting charts (e.g., column, pie, bar). Exploring essential functions:"SUM," "AVG," "MAX," "MIN," "COUNT," and "COUNTA" for data analysis.

Responsibilities:
The Career and Professional Programs at LaGuardia Community College is seeking a part-time Instructor to teach MS Excel for the grant-based Healthcare Finance and Operations Training Program(formerly known as Medical Billing Specialist program). This program is designed to prepare studentswith little or no healthcare experience to obtain entry level positions at revenue cycle, finance, operations and other departments within the healthcare industry.
· Review and update module curriculum customized for healthcare revenue cycle, finance, and operation fields.
· Prepare lesson plans for all sessions and deliver engaging and interactive training.
· Ensure course and program learning outcomes are achieved as defined by the course syllabus and program expectation.
· Evaluate student progress, assign grades; maintain updated records of student's attendance and progress.
· Offer availability for office hours and meetings.
· Ability to promote higher-order thinking and problem-solving among educational participants.
· Ability to serve the needs of traditional and non-traditional students.
· Ability to plan and organize instruction to maximize documented student learning.
Requirements:
· Three years of experience in training or coaching in Microsoft Excel.
· Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant filed
· Ability to create and modify curriculum, and develop lesson plans.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills; interpersonal and organizational skills.
· Ability to serve the needs of traditional and non-traditional students; ability to resolve classroom conflicts.
· Must be proficient in several software programs, including the Microsoft Office suite.
· The instructor must be committed to allocate additional time outside of class for preparation, grading, and other related tasks.
· Must be available to attend program and instructional orientation sessions, which may require a commitment of up to 2 hours, prior to the start of the training program.
