Lahontan is a private golf community located in Truckee, California. Camp Lahontan is a recreation facility that oversees the aquatics, tennis, and children's programs. We are looking for recreation leaders for Camp Lahontan for the Winter Season. Must be willing to work some evenings, nights, and holidays.
Overview
We seek enthusiastic and dedicated Camp Counselors to join our team for an exciting winter camp experience. As a Camp Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing children with a safe, engaging, and educational environment. You will be responsible for leading activities, fostering positive relationships, and ensuring the well-being of campers while promoting personal growth and development.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage with campers in various activities, ensuring their safety and enjoyment.
- Educate campers on various subjects related to childhood development through structured programs.
- Implement classroom management techniques to maintain a positive and productive atmosphere.
- Facilitate activities that encourage creativity and self-expression among campers.
- Manage behavior effectively to promote a respectful and inclusive environment.
- Lead recreational activities, games, and arts & crafts that align with camp goals.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding camper progress and any concerns.
- Collaborate with fellow counselors to create a cohesive team dynamic focused on camper success.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in daycare, summer camps, or educational environments is preferred.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and behavior management strategies is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with children of various ages.
- Background in arts is a plus but not required.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while demonstrating leadership qualities.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive atmosphere for all campers.
- Must be at least 18 or have relevant experience working with students.
- Must be CPR certified.
- Must be flexible and adaptable to changing situations and responsibilities.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies up to [weight limit, e.g., 30 lbs].
- Must be able to engage in physical activities, including running, hiking, and swimming, for extended periods.
Availability
- Day and/or evening shifts - NOV 29th, 30th / DEC 22nd - JAN 5th / JAN 17th - 20th / FEB 14th - 23rd
- Off Dec 24th, 25th & Jan 1st
- You must have reliable personal transportation - Tart doesn't drop off here.
- Must have secure housing

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 30 per week

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Pre-employment background screen
- At least 1 year working with kids ages 3-12.
- CPR Certified
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to sit for up to 3 hours at a time
- Ability to walk and stand up to 3 hours at a time
- Ability to safely bend, kneel, twist, grip, and carry as part of the above duties
