What are the responsibilities and job description for the Meat Cutter position at Lajita Bakery?
We are seeking a skill and experienced Butcher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing, cutting, processing meat and poultry products while maintaining high standards of quality, hygiene, and safety. The butcher should have excellent knife skills, knowledge of different meat cuts, the ability to provide exceptional customer service and lead their team to success.
Key Responsibilities:
*Provides top-notch customer service, including greeting customers and answering questions.
* Cuts and prepares all varieties and cuts of meat while safely operating tools.
* Sells products by providing customers with information necessary to make product-related decisions.
* Assists in checking and unloading meat deliveries from trucks.
* Receives, inspects, and stores meat upon delivery to ensure meat quality.
* Holds, fills, and rotates product in meats.
* Moves meat from coolers to cutting area and returns cut meat to coolers.
* Trains other associates as needed.
* Weighs, wraps, and displays meat or meat products
* Stores meats in coolers or freezers at required temperatures
* Cleans equipment and work areas to maintain health and sanitation standards.
* Estimates requirements and orders or requisitions meat supplies to maintain inventories.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience as a Butcher or in meat processing.
-Strong knowledge of meat cuts, preparation techniques, and food safety standards.
-Proficiency in using knives, saws and other butchery tools.
-Ability to lift heavy items.
-Good customer service and communication skills.
-Attention to detail and a commitment to hygiene and safety.
-Certification in meat processing or food handling.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 46 – 48 per week
