What are the responsibilities and job description for the Collection Development Library Assistant position at Lake Agassiz Regional Library?
This is a first-level position that supports the mission of Lake Agassiz Regional Library to enrich lives and strengthen communities; the position requires contact with library staff. Performs work consisting of a variety of clerical tasks related to routing and rotation of library materials, and providing support to the collection development department and regional office.
Essential Duties:
- Coordinate rotation supplies with locations
- Pack and unpack materials for all branches & LINK Sites
- Route various regional items and supplies to locations
- Move tubs/boxes of library materials from area to area within the building
- Process new materials
- Check in and route new materials
Other
- Collect/process/deliver/sort/distribute mail to/from the post office
- Opening and closing procedures for the regional office
- Mend library materials
- Assists customers by directing questions to appropriate staff
- Responsible for keeping workspace clean and attractive
- Discard library materials
- Assist in other regional office departments/areas as needed
- Participate in regional library teams, committees and projects
- Attend meetings and training as required
- Assist in training staff and overseeing volunteers
- Performs related duties as assigned

Education/Experience/License:
- A high school diploma
- Library, customer service, or related work experience preferred
- A valid driver’s license
Language Ability:
Able to communicate clearly using English, both written and oral.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
The work schedule includes day hours Monday-Friday.

- Able to stand, walk, crouch, stoop, squat, twist, climb, push/pull, up to 40 lbs.
- Able to use hands to grasp a barcode scanner and keyboard for extended periods.

- Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (i.e., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers.
- Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more. This is not just the ability to see a person or object, but the ability to recognize features as well.
- Ability to drive to other locations as needed.
Working Conditions:
30 hours per week. Salary: $12.66 per hour
