POSITION OVERVIEW: Lake Area Technical College is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated individual to join our Diesel Technology program as a full-time Instructor. The ideal candidate will have extensive diesel technology expertise and a passion for teaching. This position will support student success through classroom instruction, hands-on lab activities, curriculum development, and mentorship.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diesel Technology diploma or degree required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of industry experience as a diesel technician.
- Strong working knowledge of diesel engine systems, including diagnostic and repair software.
- Computer literacy required, particularly in truck engine and/or agricultural equipment software.
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong desire to support and mentor young adults.
REPORTS TO: Diesel Department Supervisor, Dean of Academics, Vice President
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Deliver engaging and effective instruction in the following subject areas:
- Electrical systems diagnosis
- Diesel engine electronic fuel systems
- Power trains
- Preventative maintenance
- Heating and air conditioning systems
- Welding
- Hydraulics
- Develop and update curriculum in alignment with industry standards and accreditation requirements.
- Provide hands-on lab supervision and instruction.
- Monitor and maintain equipment inventory and lab organization.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
- Collaborate with other Diesel instructors to create a cohesive and supportive teaching team.
- Serve as a positive role model for students, fostering professionalism and work ethic.
- Participate in departmental planning, evaluation, and improvement efforts.
- Maintain current certifications in all subject areas taught.
- Participate in student recruitment and public relations efforts to promote the Diesel Technology program and the college.
- Build and maintain relationships with industry partners to support curriculum relevance, internships, and job placement.
- Travel may be required to visit students during internship experiences, especially within specialized diesel programs.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by administration.
SALARY: $59,046.30 - $82,665.20
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
190 contracts with salary and bene?ts set by Watertown Board of Education in accordance with the state post-secondary salary formula.
