Location Description:
Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa is nestled high atop the majestic San Bernardino Mountains at an elevation of 5,174’. This Resort is surrounded by an ocean of Ponderosa Pines and gives guests exclusive access to Lake Arrowhead, a reservoir with a surface area of 780 acres. Lake Arrowhead is the perfect location for outdoor adventure enthusiasts and offers a variety of summertime and wintertime activities including hiking, mountain biking, fishing, kayaking, water skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, ziplining, and more. The resort includes a Bar & Restaurant, Spa & Wellness Center, Outdoor Pool & Lake Beach as well as over 23,000 sq. ft of meeting and events space.
Overview:
We are looking for a highly motivated, customer focused Restaurant Server to join our team for the season!
BASIC FUNCTION: The Cocktail Server is responsible for providing exceptional service to guests by ensuring a memorable and enjoyable experience for the summer season (May – September). This position is also responsible for speaking with guests, taking drink and food orders, delivering beverages and food efficiently, making recommendations, processing payments, and ensuring the guests’ needs are met and to satisfaction. The Cocktail Server maintains a welcoming atmosphere while adhering to all responsible alcohol service guidelines.
Your role:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Greet guests warmly, provide menus, and offer recommendations on cocktails, wine, beer, and other beverages.
2. Accurately take and enter drink and food orders, ensuring prompt and professional service.
3. Maintain an understanding of cocktail ingredients, wine selections, and drink pairings to assist guests with their choices.
4. Monitor guest needs, refill drinks, clear empty glasses, and ensure tables are clean and properly set.
5. Suggest premium spirits, specialty cocktails, and appetizers to enhance the guest experience.
6. Check guest IDs, monitor alcohol consumption, and follow all liquor laws and company policies.
7. Work closely with bartenders and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service and timely delivery of orders.
8. Process payments accurately, handle cash and credit transactions, and provide guests with accurate checks.
9. Maintain a tidy and organized lounge area, including arranging seating and stocking service stations.
10. Address any guest issues or complaints promptly and professionally, escalating to management when necessary.
11. Follow all health, safety, and alcohol service regulations to maintain a safe and professional bar environment.
12. Answer basic questions about the menu, including ingredients and allergens.
13. Assist guests with special requests and communicate their needs to the kitchen or servers.
14. Assist in cleaning the bar, restocking supplies, and setting up for the next shift
15. Support co-workers by helping where needed to enhance the overall guest experience.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager on duty.
2. Occasionally assisting with simple food prep tasks such as garnishing plates or assembling takeout orders.
3. Support other departments within Food and Beverage as necessary.
4. Changing trash bags, sweeping, or performing other small tasks to keep the bar clean.
5. Execute tasks as directed by supervisors, managers, or directors across various resort areas within the Food and Beverage Department, including but not limited to seating guests and assisting with banquet functions.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
One year’s restaurant experience as a server or in a cocktail lounge/bar setting preferred.
Pleasant and engaging personality.
Excellent communication skills.
Multi-tasker with a passion for customer satisfaction and creating a memorable experience for our guests.
Extensive knowledge of beer, wine, and cocktails.
California Food Handlers Card and RBS Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance and personal hygiene.
Effective verbal communication skills.
Must be able to speak, read, and understand English to receive training and instructions, interact with guests and other associates.
Must be comfortable with standing and walking for long periods of time on your feet.
Must be able to work outdoors in the summertime temperatures.
Must be able to work a varied schedule including days, evenings, weekends, overtime, and holidays.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
Compensation Range: The compensation for this position is $16.50/Hr. - $16.50/Hr. based on qualifications and experience.
