Job Summary
As a Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the kitchen, managing the kitchen staff, and ensuring the quality and presentation of all dishes served. Key Duties:
- Menu Development: Create and update innovative and seasonal menus, reflecting our commitment to high-quality ingredients and consistency.
- Kitchen Operations: Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring food is prepared to the highest quality standards. Ensure consistency in portioning, presentation, and taste across all dishes.
- Staff Leadership: Lead, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff, including line cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers. Conduct regular training and provide guidance to ensure efficient kitchen workflow and adherence to safety and sanitation standards.
- Inventory & Ordering: Manage inventory and ensure all food and kitchen supplies are adequately stocked. Oversee ordering processes, ensuring quality ingredients are procured in a timely manner while maintaining budgetary guidelines.
- Quality Control: Monitor food quality, ensuring that all dishes meet or exceed our standards. Regularly inspect food preparation, handling, and storage practices to comply with health and safety regulations.
- Guest Satisfaction: Strive to exceed guest expectations by consistently delivering exceptional dishes. Respond to feedback and special requests to ensure their dining experience is memorable.
- Cost Control: Monitor food costs, waste, and labor to ensure the kitchen operates within budget. Implement strategies to optimize efficiency, reduce waste, and control costs while maintaining high-quality food.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including maintaining cleanliness of kitchen areas and proper handling of food items.
- Collaboration with Front-of-House: Work closely with the front-of-house team to coordinate special events, banquets, and daily service. Ensure smooth communication between kitchen and dining room / bar staff to enhance the overall dining experience.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Chef or Head Chef in a fast-paced kitchen.
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
- Proficiency in various cooking techniques and cuisines.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with both kitchen and front-of-house staff.
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and make quick decisions.
- Knowledge of inventory control procedures and cost management.
- Certification in food service management or culinary arts is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks in the kitchen.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, from hot ovens to cold storage areas.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $48,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
