What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Tennis Instructor position at Lake Bluff Park District?
Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Tennis Instructor for our Youth Program, ages 6 to 12 for our Spring Season beginning week of April 14 and continuing through May 30. Summer and Fall Season classes may also be offered as an option at a later date to be determined. This role is essential in fostering a positive learning atmosphere while promoting physical fitness and skill development among participants.
Classes will formally meet from 2:30 - 5:00pm on 2 to 3 designated weekdays as follows:
- Student walkover from the Elementary School next door to the Park District Paddle Club / Courts - 2:30-3:00pm for Session I
- Class Session I - 3:00pm to 4:00pm
- Class Session II - 4:00pm to 5:00pm
Classes will have a maximum of 8 students.
Responsibilities
- Provides tennis instruction to boys and girls ages 6-12 in group setting
- Teach participants how to use the racquet, practice different swings, game rules of tennis, scoring and court etiquette
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of students.
- Participate in administrative duties as directed and as needed to ensure smooth operation of the tennis instruction program
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during classes and activities
- Provide constructive feedback to students to enhance their skills and confidence
- Maintain a positive and encouraging environment that motivates students to achieve their personal best
- Monitor student progress and adapt teaching methods as necessary to meet individual learning needs.
Qualifications
- Must have 2 year's experience implementing drills and lessons for youth tennis instruction
- Knowledge of rules and etiquette of tennis
- Excellent communication and guest service skill
- Familiar with proper tennis and teaching techniques
- Must be able to meet availability requirements of clinic / camp description and be able to demonstrate appropriate tennis expertise
- Background or prior experience in sports coaching or similar disciplines is required
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with students of all ages and backgrounds
