Lake Burton Grill & Bowline Takeaway & Bar has been reimagined in the LaPrades Marina. We have spots for part time, full time, and seasonal hourly roles AND we offer insurance. We have 2 outlets Lake Burton Grill featuring classic fine American fare along with an extensive wine list where the Bowline Takeaway and Bar will offer various grab-and-go options, including Shrimp by the half pound, Fish Tacos, Burgers and Signature Cocktails. We will be open 7 days a week during season for both lunch and dinner.

Job Duties:

  • Prepare tables for meals, including the complete set up of linens, silverware and glassware.
  • Perform light food preparation duties including bread, salad preparation, appetizers and desert presentation.
  • Greet guests in a professional manner and provide education about the food and beverage menus, how menu items are prepared, the ingredients used and the different cooking methods.
  • Inform customers of daily specials.
  • Check food and beverages for quality and presentation before serving to guest.
  • Serve food and beverage to guests.
  • Prepare and serve specialty dishes tableside as required.
  • Check identification to ensure that guests meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
  • Provide wine recommendations to customers.
  • Deliver wine to table with appropriate glasses and use proper corkage and pouring techniques.
  • Receive guest payments and process transactions.
  • Clear and clean tables promptly according to proper sanitation standards.
  • Complete side duties as required including, polishing silverware, restaurant set up, and filling condiments.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Customer Service: Must consistently be able to assess, anticipate and meet multiple guests needs at high quality standards and evaluate customer satisfaction without projecting a mood that detracts from guests experience. Must balance bar guests needs with those of guests served by wait staff. This requires practical knowledge of industry customer service standards.

Communication: Must clearly communicate in a professional manner with guests, vendors, coworkers and management. The ability to promote two-way communication by presenting clear ideas using thoughtful and responsive words. Nonverbal cues from a guest or server can alert the bartender to a potential problem. Must also understand instructions, read written company memorandums and communicate when he or she needs more direction.

Interpersonal Relationships: Must adapt to different personalities of guests and coworkers without losing focus. Extreme familiarity or conflicts with coworkers often weaken a team-oriented work environment.

Problem Solving and Conflict Management: Must recognize a problem when it arises and be able to resolve it appropriately by using good judgement, tact and initiative according to company policy and procedure.

Quality Control and Priority Assessment: Assess the value and importance of customer needs to maintain a high standard of quality.

Sales Techniques and Customer Influence: Use sales techniques and persuasive communications to up-sell products and services.

Performing General Physical Activities: Must perform physical activities that require moderate strength including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, and handling of materials.

Analytical Skills: Must use logic and reason to identify solutions and alternatives for a successful outcome in many situations, including cost/benefit analysis; service and product quality; and conflict resolution.

Time Management Skills: Must utilize methods and organization techniques in a fast-paced environment to ensure efficiency and respect the time of others. Bartenders must be able to direct others, such as bar backs and bussers, to maximize efficiency and team work.

Language Skills: Must speak and write with excellent command of the English language.

Flexibility: Often work overtime, when needed, and assist the workload of others.

Initiative: Must take action frequently, collaborate with team members and develop new ideas that focus on results.
