Lake Butler Hospital is a critical access hospital in North Florida providing 24-hour emergency services, inpatient hospitalization, swing bed program, rehabilitation services, outpatient laboratory, and outpatient radiology (X-ray, ultrasound, and CT Scan) services to Union County and the surrounding counties. Responsible for interviewing and counseling all self-pay patients upon admission to hospital, either through Emergency Room, Outpatient, Inpatient or Rural Health Clinic regarding their financial responsibilities towards payment of hospital services. Completes financial Assessment on all Self-pay patients to determine eligibility for Medicaid or Indigent Care. Implements necessary collection efforts, to include patient and insurance contacts, telephone calls and collection letters. Makes recommendations regarding bad debt and Indigent Care qualifications as needed. Responsible for safeguarding the company’s Accounts Receivables and assuring the company’s collections maintained at acceptable standards while continually striving to decrease the days outstanding in accounts receivables and maximizing the incoming cash flows. Welcoming and helpful attitude towards all patients and clients. Perform other duties as required by the Director of Financial Services.
Requirements
Education: Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: 3-5 years experience making financial arrangements for patients; knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance structure and payment policies; insurance and over the counter collections experience
Skills: Excellent grammar and communication skills. Strong customer service skills.
Knowledge: Knowledge of medical terminology.
Abilities: Accurate, flexible person who is meticulous to detail and adept at solving problems. Self-starter. Displays responsibility to confidentiality aspects of medical/financial information. Pleasant attitude in dealing with the public and various levels of staff. Ability to type 45 wpm, use a 10-key calculator. Ability to read and understand the benefits for all insurances.
