Job Description
Lake Center Christian School is seeking a Secondary Intervention Specialist for the 2024-2025 school year.
Reports to : Director of Special Services
Performance Expectations :
Effectively manage the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain a positive learning environment
Maintain accurate and complete IEP records.
Coordinate collection as well as interpret data provided by the Educational Team.
Complete Jon Peterson Scholarship Program paperwork to meet deadlines.
Provide guidance to parents, teachers and students to promote educational development of students with disabilities.
Attend parent / teacher conferences as needed.
Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with parents through effective use of interim reports, report cards and conferences.
Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter, particularly Math and ELA skills, and present clear explanations utilizing a variety of instructional techniques and media suitable to the level of learners.
Understand and follow the "Response to Intervention" (RtI) process for student success.
Provide appropriate intervention for qualifying students
Communicate and work closely with the general education teacher while developing each student's intervention program
Work collaboratively with the educational team to provide appropriate accommodations and modifications to the general education curriculum.
Draft a schedule taking into consideration the least restrictive environment.
Assist the Director of Special Services with the preparation of Professional Development for faculty and staff.
Participate in professional development meetings assigned committee work, staff meetings, extra-curricular activities and other professional responsibilities as assigned.
Attend faculty devotions, chapel services, and required faculty meetings according to weekly schedule.
Follow procedures and policies in the Employee Handbook.
Follow all confidentiality laws and requirements.
Submit Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP) and follow LPDC requirements.
Arrive sufficiently before the students to be prepared for his / her responsibilities - specific times outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Participate in professional development meetings assigned committee work, staff meetings, extra-curricular activities and other professional responsibilities as assigned.
Fulfill other reasonable duties as assigned by the school administration without expectation of additional compensation.
Additional Working Conditions :
Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue
Occasional interaction with unruly students
Frequent requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, climb, and stoop
Occasional evening work
Occasional travel, e.g., attending workshop outside of district
Occasional operation of a vehicle in inclement weather conditions
Frequent repetitive hand motion, e.g., computer keyboard, calculator, writing
Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull various items up to a maximum of 25 pounds
Requirements
Qualifications :
A personal testimony of the saving grace and power of the Lord Jesus Christ
Bachelor degree from four-year college or university
Certification or licensure by the State of Ohio for the position or eligibility for such credentials.
All faculty members are required to have an ACSI certificate after their first year of employment.
Testimony to an experience of salvation and a growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Be able to define and explain a Biblical worldview.
Adequate background of Bible knowledge and the ability to impart biblical truth to students.
A member of or association with an evangelical Christian congregation and regular attendance including active support where affiliation is held.
A good moral reputation and strong family relationships.
Ability to relate to and to work well with others.
Ability to plan, teach, and assess in a co-teaching environment.
Possess an understanding and commitment to Christian education and a sense of call from the Lord into teaching.
Support of the Philosophy of Christian education, the educational goals, and the curriculum of Lake Center Christian School.
An understanding of and agreement with the Statement of Faith and Community Lifestyle Commitment.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Knowledge of academic area and teaching methodology
Ability to plan, teach and assess in a co-teaching environment.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Effective, active listening skills
Organizational and problem solving skills
Ability to identify learning difficulties and recommend intervention activities
Training in varied methods of instructional design
