Job Summary:
The Business Development Executive is responsible for driving new business growth, market expansion, and broadening LCR’s service offerings. The primary focus is acquiring new customers, entering new regions, and growing services such as custom metal shop work, interior home improvement projects, and winter roofing services. This role also involves leveraging the company’s Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) status to secure additional contracts. Territory Locations: NY: Clinton County, Franklin County, Essex County
VT: Grand Isle County, Chittenden County plus expansion zones.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote Core Values: Uphold and promote LCR’s core values—Dependability, Collaborative Approach, Quality Craftsmanship, and Professionalism—in all business development activities and client interactions.
- Business Growth: Identify and secure new business opportunities within Clinton, Franklin, and Essex counties, with a goal of expanding into Western New York (e.g., Syracuse), Vermont, and as far south as Albany.
- Market Expansion: Drive market expansion by identifying and capitalizing on growth opportunities, including custom metal shop services, winter work (roof snow removal, maintenance contracts), and additional interior/exterior home improvement services.
- Client Relationship Management: Build strong relationships with commercial, residential, and industrial clients, ensuring excellent customer satisfaction and fostering repeat business.
- Strategic Sales Planning: Develop and implement strategic sales plans that meet or exceed the company’s annual revenue growth target of $5 million in additional sales volume.
- MBE Contract Leveraging: Leverage LCR’s MBE status to identify and secure contracts with organizations seeking partnerships with minority-owned businesses.
- Performance Tracking: Track and analyze sales performance metrics, providing regular updates to leadership on progress toward goals and adjusting tactics as needed.
- CRM Utilization: Utilize CRM software to manage leads, maintain customer relationships, and track the sales pipeline from prospect to close.
- Industry Knowledge: Maintain in-depth knowledge of roofing materials, installation methods, industry trends, local building codes, and competitor strategies to inform business development efforts.
- Professional Representation: Represent LCR professionally at networking events, trade shows, and community engagements to enhance brand awareness and market presence.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience: Minimum 4 years of successful sales experience, preferably in the construction, home improvement, or roofing industry.
- Roofing Knowledge: Strong knowledge of residential, commercial, and industrial roofing practices, including various materials, installation methods, and industry standards.
- Sales Skills: Demonstrated ability to prospect, qualify leads, and close deals through effective communication and negotiation. A proven track record in outside sales is essential, with experience generating leads through prospecting, cold calling, and networking.
- Presentation Abilities: Excellent presentation and consultative selling skills, with the ability to deliver compelling roofing solutions and proposals to prospective customers.
- Tech Proficiency: Proficiency with CRM software for managing leads and tracking sales activities, along with familiarity with common office productivity tools.
- Market Awareness: Strong market awareness, including knowledge of local building codes, regional weather considerations, and competitor offerings in the roofing space.
- Work Ethic: Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and capable of working independently while also contributing to team success through a collaborative approach.
- Professionalism: High level of professionalism and integrity, with a dependable work ethic that aligns with LCR’s core values and customer service standards.
Compensation & Performance Monitoring:
- Weekly Draw: Base draw of $1,000 per week.
- Commission: A sliding-scale commission ranging from 10% to 30% of profit share.
- Profit Sharing: Additional profit-sharing incentives are available based on overall margin performance and the company’s profitability.
- Performance Metrics: Success in this role will be measured through key performance indicators (KPIs), including:
- Monthly Sales Volume & Revenue Growth: Tracking new sales dollars brought in and percentage growth toward targets.
- Customer Acquisition & Conversion: Number of new customers acquired and the conversion rate from leads to closed deals.
- Gross Profit Margins: Maintaining healthy profit margins on all closed contracts.
- Market Expansion & Service Diversification: Progress in expanding into new territories and introducing or increasing sales of new service offerings (e.g., winter services, custom metal work).
- Continuous Improvement: Participation in weekly evaluation meetings to review performance, discuss challenges, and adjust strategies for continuous improvement.
