DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
- The Courier is responsible for assuring appropriate specimen pick-up at offsite clinics, physician offices, Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for Women Laboratory and Moss Memorial Health Clinic Monday through Friday.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Accepts properly packed and labeled specimens for referral to LCMH, Moss Memorial Health Clinic and LCMHW laboratories with appropriate orders for transportation.
- Transports specimens being referred to LCMH laboratories according to OSHA standards and hospital/laboratory standard operating procedures.
- Delivers laboratory reports and supplies for the collection of specimens that will be referred to LCMH laboratories.
- Picks up dry ice for referral section of the laboratory as needed.
- Only transport items directly related to hospital or laboratory business.
- Responsible for assuring courier vehicle cleanliness, organization and preventive maintenance at scheduled time frames.
- Assures compliance with courier services policies and procedures.
- Assures that all specimens for transport are handled in compliance with the courier specimen tracking procedure.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- The individual must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
- Must be an experienced driver.
- Good driving skills.

- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
