Under the direction of the Patient Access Supervisor this employee is responsible for promoting a caring and compassionate environment that allows Lake Charles Memorial Hospital to provide an individualized experience to our patients. This employee is devoted to promoting excellent patient and provider relations that encourage a lasting connection. This position is responsible for ensuring quality on accounts by completing QA on all registrations in the hospital system. This employee must consistently maintain highly descriptive training documents and ensure all new employees are trained properly and provide re-education as needed to staff.

SUPERVISION: Reports directly to the Patient Access Supervisor
Description Of Position/Responsibilities And Duties
- Remains fully trained in all areas of all processes of the Patient Access Department. Employee ensures training is updated as necessary.
- Employee clearly documents all actions on accounts to ensure the success of any employee who touches the account in any manner.
- Employee maintains an acceptable productivity level by completing all QA reports on a daily basis to ensure accounts are correct prior to claims falling to be worked by Business Office personnel.
- Employee observes processes and recommends changes to better our department and to increase our productivity.
- Employee produces reports for accuracy percentages and provides them to management as often as necessary, but no less than once per month. New employees are monitored more frequently.
- Employee develops and maintains training materials for all areas.
- Employee also ensures updated documentation and an explanation, if necessary, is given to all appropriate staff.
- Employee advises management when employees are consistently making the same error so that employee can be re-trained.
- Employee effectively communicates with all departments that register throughout the facility at all campuses to ensure training is provided and instruction is given when a new process it put into place.
- Employee uses tools provided to train all new employees and is able to verify their knowledge prior to allowing them to work on their own.
Education And Work Experience
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Three years experience in a hospital or medical related field which Patient Access and/or Business Office experience preferred.
- Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
- Requires emotional stability and resilience, employee must be detail oriented and be able to deal with a variety of personalities.
- Must demonstrate a high degree of organizational ability and communicative skills.
- Ability to read, write and speak intelligible English; Ability to communicate with patients, family, peers and medical personnel; Basic math skills and appropriate phone etiquette.
- Requires emotional stability and resilience; Must be adaptable to change, be decisive, and demonstrates foresight; Exhibits organizational and leadership ability.
- Work may require evenings, nights, weekends, holidays and/or a flexible schedule depending on the needs of the unit/department/service.
- Requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deal with stressful situations and conflict resolution.
