DESCRIPTION OF POSITION :
The Physician Assistant (PA) works in collaboration with Primary Care Physician Staff within the scope of practice guidelines agreed upon by the collaborating parties. Provide evaluation and treatment of new patients, follow-up patients and postoperative patients in the clinical setting.
SUPERVISION : Reports directly to Clinical Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :
Evaluation and treatment of new patients, follow-up patients, and postoperative patients in the clinical setting.
Document detailed information in patient chart.
Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of required job information.
Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Interpretation of plain films, CT scans, MRI scans.
Referring patients as appropriate.
Evaluate and clarify clinical conditions, formulate and implement a treatment or therapeutic plan for out- patient clinical services. Complete H / P for patients.
Order, prescribe, dispense, and administer medication.
Other office work as needed

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma / GED
Must have a Bachelor�s Degree in Physician Assistant Medicine or graduate of an approved Physician Assistant Training Program
Current license as a Physician Assistant in State of Louisiana
Current BLS / ACLS certifications
Eligible for Prescriptive Authority in the state of Louisiana as outlined by the State Board of Medical Examiners
Experience in evaluating and treating patients in a Physician office setting.
Computer literacy
Previous experience working in certain specialty areas may be desirable.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
Work requires a variety of physical activities, including moving about within and outside of all hospital properties for long periods of time.
Must be able to exchange accurate information with patient, family, peers and medical personnel.
