Cardiology / Radiology Specialist
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION :
- The Cardiology / Radiology Specialist educates patients and staff appropriately in reference to radiology issues among other assigned tasks.
SUPERVISION : Reports directly to Nurse Manager and / or Charge Nurse
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :
Collaborates with interdisciplinary team in planning and organizing patient care during preoperative, perioperative and post-operative periods.Effectively identifies and solves problems in reference to radiology equipment, patient care or radiation safety.Consistently communicates abnormal variances to Charge nurse, Circulating RN or Nurse Manager.Competent in sterile technique for all cath lab proceduresDemonstrates the following best practices in a consistent and positive manner : Huddles, procedure reporting, Service Excellence principles, and use of sterile technique.Follows evidence-based policies and procedures to guide radiology practice.Consistently produces quality radiographs.Documents accurately according to department policy.Possesses competency in use of technology and computers.Demonstrates competency in the use of archive unit, image management, study measurements and quality control.Performs assessment of patient in regards to positioning to obtain quality study.Consistently participates in the multidisciplinary approach to patient care.Competently performs / assists with all cath lab procedures performed.Demonstrates competency in operation of all cath lab equipment.Interprets and implements physician orders in reference to positioning and x ray views.Competently performs unit specific procedures in the x ray and scrub positions.Is knowledgeable of and actively participates in implementation of Unit PI plan.Makes suggestions / recommendations for improved operations.Has knowledge of and utilizes unit specific equipment appropriately.Follows established hospital / department safety policies.Understands and appropriately responds to the unique combination of cultural variables that professionals and individuals bring to interactions.Follows hospital / department infection control policies.Adheres to hospital / department radiation safety policies including annual Radiation Safety inservice.The above statements are only meant to be a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Graduate of School of Radiology TechnologyCurrent Louisiana Radiology license and ARRT registeredBLS-CPR certifiedPhysical Demands / Work Environment
