What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sterile Processing Technician at LCMH for Women position at Lake Charles Memorial Health System?
Sterile Processing personnel are responsible for the reprocessing and sterilization of reusable items throughout the hospital, off-site clinics, and vendor instrumentation brought in for physician and patient use. Each tech is responsible for following all steps required in the processing phase which starts with proper decontamination through set assembly, inspection, sterilization, transport and storage. Monitoring the quality of and ensuring the maintenance of all equipment in SPD. Learn to perform daily efficacy testing of equipment and become an infection prevenionist who ensures the sterility of equipment for the safety of patients, physicians, and staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school graduate or GED
- Two years of experience in sterile processing operations or in a position that has knowledge of and understands the importance of providing sterilized trays of instruments to customers in a timely manner.
- Minimal computer skills
- Certification in sterile processing preferred
