What are the responsibilities and job description for the UNIT TECH- Full Time - Weekdays 3pm-11pm position at Lake Charles Memorial Health System?
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
- The Unit Tech/Monitor Tech assumes responsibility for the organization and clerical activities for the nursing unit.
SUPERVISION: Reports directly to Nurse Manager and/or Charge Nurse
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Works under the direction of the Nurse Manager or the Charge Nurse.
- Communicates appropriately with patients, visitors, and staff, in a timely and efficient manner.
- Performs unit tasks in an effective and timely manner.
- Demonstrates accuracy and efficiency in computer and clerical skills.
- Gathers and distributes clinical data as assigned.
- Orders supplies and maintains nurses' station in an orderly, neat manner.
- Documents legibly according to hospital policy.
- Utilizes equipment appropriately (printer, computer, telephone, fax machine, etc)
- Actively participates in implementation of PI plan.
- Employees in positions involving patient charting and related functions must possess competency in use of technology and computers.
- Assist with ordering and organization of supplies
- Is knowledgeable of and actively participates in implementing the unit PI plan.
- Demonstrates an awareness and implementation of National Patient Safety Goals.
- Makes suggestions/recommendations for improved operations.
- Follows established hospital/department safety policies.
- Understands and appropriately responds to the unique combination of cultural variables that professionals and patients/individuals bring to interactions.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma/GED.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Work requires a variety of physical activities including sitting, standing and walking. Bending, stooping, and lifting is minimal.
- The work environment may be physically confining.
- Normal hearing or the use of adaptive hearing devices to enhance hearing required.
- Visual acuity required for a variety of activities.
- Must be able to sit and utilize PC for long periods of time.
- Good manual dexterity required for keyboard activities.
- Ability to do shift work as required.
