Job Description
Inspectors work closely with Operators on production lines and assist while the line is running. The Line Inspector position involves inspecting customer parts during the manufacturing process and before the parts are shipped to our customers.
Essential Functions
- Ensure that plated (or other processed) parts meet established quality standards.
- Inspect parts to ensure that they:
- Match the process and verify parts were processed per the Traveler.
- Ensure that plating thicknesses are within tolerances specified on the Traveler; when necessary, produce thickness reports using CMI and non-medical cabinet x-ray machines.
- Use go/no-go gauges, when applicable.
- Perform tape tests, when applicable.
- Match quantities, weights, and number of containers on the Traveler.
- Sign off on Travelers for acceptable parts, and when appropriate, affix acceptance stickers to containers.
- When rejecting parts, indicate rejection on the Traveler, put a reject sticker on the container, and return parts to the production line.
- Use Microsoft Teams to communicate with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Operate a forklift.
Final Packaging
- Shrink wrap containers and finalize any required packaging/palletizing.
- Bring completed Travelers to the office and scan them as processed.
Miscellaneous
- Maintain stock of testing tape, rejection stickers, acceptance stickers, etc.
- Provide a safe, clean, and organized workplace.
- Ensure all safety policies are being followed, including proper usage of PPE.
- Ensure that the “To Be Inspected” area remains clean and organized.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Suggest improvements for quality, safety, and efficiency.

Supervisory Responsibility
This role has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in both an office and manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The performance of this position requires exposure to a typical manufacturing area that necessitates the use of personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, appropriate closed-toe shoes, and other PPE as needed. The noise level is moderate.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Quality Coordinator to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this position, the Quality Coordinator is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires standing, walking, and sitting. The Quality Inspector is occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, or bend. The Quality Inspector must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday.
- 3rd Shift: 10:45 PM-7:00 AM
Required Education and Experience
- Quality orientation and high attention to detail.
- Strong desire to learn.
Preferred Experience and Education
- Experience in a manufacturing environment required, especially with quality.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Previous manufacturing experience is required.
- Forklift experience is preferred.
- Personal and dependable transportation to the job location is required.
Travel Requirements
All Lake City Plating associates may need to commute between our Ashtabula and Jefferson, OH plants as necessary. Mileage is reimbursed.
