The Engineering Office Supervisor is responsible for mid-level managerial duties associated with the daily operations and oversight of the Engineering Office.
Essential Job Functions
Applicants must have a high school diploma/GED and a valid Ohio driver's license, or state ID. Prior engineering/construction office management experience or equivalent is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Applicants should be knowledgeable in Engineering Office practices, collecting and interpreting data, maintaining logs, directing, coordinating and enforcing the general procedures pertaining to office practices, assisting site supervision with daily responsibilities and assigning tasks, ensuring compliance with departmental rules and regulations, motivating and managing the performance of employees, providing coaching, counseling, training and safety standards, assisting in the development and execution of goals, priorities, workforce plans and long-term strategic objects. Applicants must exhibit a high degree of initiative and logic, exercise independent judgement, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, display effective communication and leadership to promote employee growth and development, exhibit sound decision-making when faced with complex or unique situations, utilize discretion, and consistently deliver general customer service in a professional fashion.

Essential Job Functions
- Provides a positive and professional image of the Department when dealing with department staff and the public. Develops excellence in customer service with staff. Receives, reviews and effectively resolves inquiries/complaints from customers, contractors, and developers. Interacts with County agencies (i.e., Auditors, Commissioners, Health, Planning, Prosecutors, and Treasurer).
- Prioritizes and schedules work assignments. Implements objectives for effective performance. Develops procedures, upgrades skills and provides training and coaching to department personnel. Analyzes and adjusts work procedures to improve efficiency.
- Meets with employees and supervisors to determine objectives and resolve complaints/grievances. Evaluates and develops employees. Recommends hires, reclassifications, training and performance and disciplinary actions.
- Demonstrates good technical and business writing skills. Maintains records and reports on Engineering Division expenses, operations, and personnel. Prepares annual operating budget for Engineering Division. Researches and organizes data and statistical information to prepare reports, letters, and memos.
- Ensures all employees utilize safe work practices and safety equipment.
