- Reviewing and becoming familiar with student’s IEP.
- Preparing and/or organizing instructional materials and lessons.
- Instructing child using appropriate methods and materials.
- Correcting student assignments, tests, and homework.
- Maintaining appropriate records.
- Assist in supervising student with disability in any instructional setting (regular classroom, special education classroom, lunchroom, playground, recreational/physical education activities, field trips and hallways) during the school day.
- Assist in supervising student with disability in Behavioral management of child using the appropriate methods and techniques.
- Assist in supervising student with disability during the arrival and departure of students.
- With proper training, assist student with personal health needs and non-medical procedures.
- Position and/or perform one-person or two-person lift of a child when needed.
- Maintain confidentiality in all work responsibilities.
- Set a professional image through the use of interpersonal skills to include: courteous manners; proper work attire; a positive attitude; and, a cooperative demeanor.
- Respond and interact with children and adults in a positive, thoughtful, and appropriate manner.

Education, Experience & Certification:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training. Must obtain and maintain an Ohio Department of Education Educational Aide Permit.
Physical Demands: The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 45 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision and Peripheral vision. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
After proper training, assist students with personal health needs and non-medical procedures; must frequently diaper students up to 120 pounds, ages 14 to 22. Must be able to position and/or perform one-person or two-person lifts and holds; and perform restraints on students when needed.

Drug Testing: Must pass a 10 panel drug screen at time of hire and comply with the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988.
