What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nature Camp Instructor position at Lake County Forest Preserve District?
Temporary Position: Average 30 hours per week β 9 Weeks
Location: Primary Work Locations will be Greenbelt (North Chicago) and General Offices (Libertyville)
SUMMARY
The Nature Camp Instructor is responsible for mentoring and helping to orient the Nature Camp Counselors to the District. Serves as a mentor for the Nature Camp Counselor (NCC) Observe and assists with Science Explorers in Nature (SEN) and Conservation Explorers (ConEx) programs led by staff and learning from the Environmental Education Instructor (EEI). This individual reports to the Environmental Educator III. Perform tasks that require walking, bending, stooping, standing, kneeling, climbing, reaching and sitting. Perform lifting tasks up to 50 pounds.
EXPERIENCE
Must be at least 18 years of age. Preference given to candidates that were prior Nature Camp Counselors and candidates who reside in Waukegan, North Chicago, Zion, Beach Park, Park City and Round Lake. One season of teaching or camp experience. Enthusiasm and respect for people, teaching, the environment. Education and communication skills necessary to present educational programs for large and small groups of children and adults. Ability to operate audio-visual equipment and word processing software. Upon employment, must successfully complete and obtain certification in American Red Cross CPR and First Aid.
