Position Summary

The Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Department is seeking a dedicated, highly responsible and customer service-oriented individual for the position of Recreation Attendant. Recreation Attendants are responsible for interfacing with guests in order to meet or exceed guest needs with respect to facility, program or service needs. This includes providing information, implementing or carrying out pre-planned programs or activities, assisting with program planning, cash handling, enforcing policies and/or procedures, and generally representing the department in the most quality and service-oriented manner possible.

Essential Functions

  • Open and close facilities
  • Completing daily check lists
  • Rental/sale of equipment to customers.
  • Monetary transactions, use of a cash register and completion of proper paperwork
  • Communicate effectively with patrons, staff, and personnel
  • Site supervise program participants and spectators
  • Be available to assist and lead a variety of responsibilities that support programming – score keeping, practice and game oversight, concessions, field and gymnasium maintenance.
  • Set up and take down program equipment
  • Clean and maintain program facilities
  • Other duties as assigned

Notice of Emergency/Disaster Responsibilities
All Lake County Employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker when a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by the Board of County Commissioners. To be prepared for this role, all employees and emergency service function (ESF) leads will attend emergency management trainings and exercises as requested by the Director of Emergency Management. With advanced notification from OEM, employees will make reasonable efforts to attend training events in coordination with other employees and supervisors.

Requirements

  • Must be 15 years of age or older
  • Must pass a state and national background check

Physical Activity & Work Environment

  • Must be able to stand and walk on all types of surfaces including snow and ice, and all types of terrain including snow covered hills.
  • Conduct activities involving climbing, stooping, kneeling/bending, crawling, and reaching on a moderate basis.
  • Lift and carry burdens weighing up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Be able to shovel or push snow of at least 6”
  • Work in a high-altitude environment
  • Must have the stamina to sweep, mop and vacuum.

Expected Duration of the Application Process
